This isn't just a craft project; it is a curriculum-aligned engineering task. Students will start with raw South African Pine and finish with a working electrical appliance they can proudly use on their own desk. 🧰 Student Learning Objectives (Curriculum Aligned): This course supports CAPS and IEB Technology & Natural Science curriculums. Hand Tool Safety: Students master the safe use of handsaws, clamps, sanding blocks, and battery-operated drills. Practical Mathematics: Students apply practical math by mastering the tape measure, understanding dimensions, and planning geometric layouts for assembly. Mechanical Systems: Students explore Physics concepts by building levers and linkages, understanding how friction holds the lamp arm in place. Electrical Engineering: Students gain essential "Energy & Change" skills by safely wiring a plug, inline switch, and lamp holder. ✅ The Result Students will gain confidence in their manual skills, understand the engineering behind their project, and receive a Certificate of Completion and rubric assessment for their school portfolio. ⚡ Safety First: We use safe hand tools and battery-operated drills for this age group.
